Private Life
Childhood
Paul Stephen Rudd was born on April 6, 1969 in Passaic, New Jersey, United States. His parents: Michael Rudd, a tour guide and former vice president of Trans World Airlines, died of cancer in 2008 and Gloria Irene Granville, was a sales manager at the KCMO-TV station in Kansas City. Both were born in London, England. In addition to Paul, they have a daughter named Mandi Rudd. His family is descended from Ashkenazi Jews. His paternal family name was "Rudnitsky", but was changed by his grandfather to "Rudd".
When he was ten years old, they moved to Kansas. Paul attended Broadmoor Junior High and graduated from high school at Shawnee Mission West High School. He attended the University of Kansas, where he majored in theater. He studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles. In addition, he spent three months studying Jacobean theater at the British American Drama Academy based in Oxford, England. Before making a name for himself in acting he worked as a DJ for Bar Mitzvah.
Family
In 2003 he marries Julie Yaeger, his longtime girlfriend. He met her on his first day in New York. When he was late for an audition, a girl who worked there offered to leave his bags at her friend's apartment. A few days later, almost without knowing it, he asked Julie if she would like to have lunch. And that's when it all began.
In 2004 their first son, Jack Sullivan Rudd, was born and in 2010 their second daughter, Darby Rudd, was born.

Paul is a supporter of the Stuttering Association for Youth a non-profit organization dedicated to helping young people who stutter. He recounted that he became an advocate for stuttering after playing a character who stutters in a play. He is also one of the founders of The Big Slick charity which is a celebrity-centric sporting event held in Kansas City each June to support the work of Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. Since 2014, Rudd and Jeffrey Dean Morgan have co-owned Samuel's Sweet Shop, a candy store in New York City, which they saved from being closed after the previous owner, a friend of theirs, died suddenly, in collaboration with Samuel's Sweet Shop, decorated a birdhouse to be auctioned off, it was sold and the money raised was donated to many local places that found themselves in crisis after covid-19. In July 2015, immediately after the release of Ant-Man, Paul decided to go surprise fans who had organized a "special screening" of the movie. All the money raised from the tickets went to charities. He went with his children to Washington to protest alongside the Parkland students. Paul said, "The school shootings we are experiencing are real. And the young people of Parkland are an inspiration. We need gun regulation now." Last year (2020) he was out handing out cookies in the rain to citizens who cast their early vote in the U.S. election.

Film and tv
Rudd made his acting debut in the series Sisters (1992), in 1994 he worked in Wild Oats and in 1995 he appeared in the film that is still relevant today, Clueless. In 1999 he joined the cast of the film The Cider House Rules with Tobey Maguire, Charlize Theron. He received a nomination from the Screen Actors Guild for Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture. In 2002 he started working in one of the best known sitcoms in the world, Friends (s9 and s10). 2004 was the beginning of his work with director and producer Judd Apatow, with whom he has worked on several projects such as Anchorman, This Is 40, The 40 Year Old Virgin, etc. In 2009 Paul co-created the TV series Party Down. In 2012 he starred and co-produced with Apatow the movie Wanderlust, which stars Jennifer Aniston. Also in 2012 he appeared in the TV series Parks and Recreation (s4 and s7) for which he won a Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Guest Star in a Comedy. On December 19, 2013 he is confirmed as the lead in the Marvel movie Ant-Man where he will play Scott Lang/Ant-Man. In Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018) in addition to returning to play Scott Lang, he participated as a co-writer. In 2019 he reprises his role as Scott Lang in the highest-grossing film in history, Endgame. On October 18, 2019 he starred in a series with Netflix called: Living with yourself where in addition to starring with Aisling Bea, he served as Executive Producer.In 2021, after the pandemic, Paul Rudd returns with two projects: a fact-based series starring Will Ferrell, The Shrink Next Door and the return of Ghostbusters starring the original Ghostbusters.
Theater
Rudd has also appeared in Broadway plays, the first being The Last Night of Ballyhoo as Joe Farkas in 1997.[60] The next year he appeared in Twelfth Night with Kyra Sedgwick and Max Wright at the Lincoln Center Theatre.[61] In 2006, he appeared in the Broadway production of Richard Greenberg's Three Days of Rain with Bradley Cooper and Julia Roberts at the Bernard Jacobs Theater.[62] In 2012, Rudd appeared in the Broadway production of Craig Wright's Grace at the Cort Theatre. Starring alongside Rudd was Academy Award nominee Michael Shannon, Kate Arrington, and seven-time Emmy Award winner Ed Asner. In 2001, he starred as "Adam" in the original London production of Neil LaBute's The Shape of Things, and again Off-Broadway for three months starting in October 2001. Two years later, the film was made with all of the original cast.
